Oral findings in patients with chronic kidney disease: A cross-sectional descriptive study in Cuenca, Ecuador

Objective: To determine the different oral findings in patients with renal insufficiency, chronic. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out that included 123 individuals who were diagnosed chronic and underwent dialysis treatment at Renal Services Unit of Austro city Cuenca-Ecuador. Once approved by Research Directorate Faculty Dentistry (DIFO) University Cuenca (code UC-DIFO-PROY-17-010), cavity examined to detect gingival enlargement non-inflammatory, hemorrhagic lesions (purpura ecchymosis), uremic stomatitis candidiasis. Data analysis performed using IBM-SPSS Statistics 20.0 program for Windows software (IBM Corporation, Armonk, NY, USA); results presented simple distribution tables calculating their percentage frequency. Results: Of subjects participated this study, 52% (n=64) women, while 48% (n=59) men. The mean age population 60.2 (SD: 14.6) years. Oral described 74% (n= 91) patient’s Among them were: non-inflammatory (64.7%) (n=57), such as purpura ecchymosis (57.7%) (n=71), (10.6%) (n=13) candidiasis (8.1%) (n=10). Conclusion: Patients present important should be identified treated during dental practice.
